Ana Demertzis was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her passion for art began at an early age in the rolling hills of rural Indiana. At the age of
eleven a whole new world opened for Ana when her family moved to
Punta Gorda, a small town on the west coast of Florida.

These childhood experiences brought a special sense of connection
to the decorative arts and artifacts from a bygone era. Such fond ties
with the past and Ana's love for gardening are apparent in the florals
and botanicals of her most recent work, some of which are painted
on 18th century surface.

Majoring in art at the University of Miami, Ana received a scholarship
to continue studies in Oaxaca, Mexico. Intoxicated by the land and
culture, Ana remained in Mexico painting and raising a family for
thirteen years.

Presently Ana's summer studio is nestled in the bucolic country
setting of Schoharie County, New York. Her winter studio is located
in the small historic town of Arcadia, Florida. Ana is always
surrounded by the subject matter she loves the most, be it the
hardy perennials or Florida's exotic tropical. The flowers and plants
she paints are always in bloom just outside her studio door.
