Gaztambide was born July 28, 1949, in Miami,
Florida.
He has been creating art since taking a course called
"Art for non-art students" at Loyola University of the
South in New Orleans, Louisiana.
During the first 15 years of his career he
studied and
worked with many of Puetro Rico's leading artist as a
master printer. He also established "Galeria Sin Paredes"
(Gallery Without Walls) which sold their work.
In 1985 he moved to Florida and earned a BFA
degree
from the University of South Florida in 1989. There he
studied with artists such as Theo Wujjic, Bradlee Shanks,
Jeffrey Kronsnoble, and George Pappas.
In a career spanning close to 30 years he has
shown his
work extensively throughout the world and his art work is
in many private and public collections.
