Tom Bond studied drawing and painting at the National Art School in Washington, D.C., and the Brooklyn Museum of Art School in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career as a civilian artist for the US Navy, US Army Intelligence and Armed Forces Information and Education in Washington, D.C. 

He ended his career as a government artist rendering conceptual drawings and paintings for the Air Force Armament Laboratory during the Vietnam war. In 1970 he left the government and launched a successful career as a fine artist. Considered a "master watercolorist", his watercolor paintings have won numerous Best of Show and First Place awards.
